Covenant Species

From HaloStation Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Covenant is a massive religious hegemony composed of several alien species, which have controlled a significant portion of the Orion Arm of the galaxy for thousands of years. While the hegemony is composed of eight different species, the Empire is primarily governed by the San'Shyuum, one of the two races that originally founded the Covenant; the other race, the Sangheili, oversee the vast military of the hegemony.

Today, the Covenant is locked in a brutal war that has spanned over thirty years with Humanity - seeking to exterminate the human race entirely on account of them being heretics, as decreed by the High Prophets of Truth, Regret, and Mercy.

In HaloStation, each race offers their own unique playstyle dictated not just by their personalities in-lore, but also their equipment and their stats. Kig-Yar can run faster than the average human, Yanme'e can fly without needing jetpacks, Grunts are naturally capable of EVA operations straight out of spawn, and so on. Below are the various races of the Covenant that you'll find in-game and their associated ranks, all of which are playable.

Race Description

Unggoy

Difficulty: Easy

Description: The methane breathing Unggoy act as expendable troops for the covenant and are uniquely suited to carrying heavy weapons and ammo. They stick around higher ranking covenant and are generally expected to die in service to the great journey.

Kig-Yar

Difficulty: Easy

Description: Kig-Yar are a physically frail and relatively independent species that rely on their superior senses and tactics in combat. They often wield shields to compensate for their frailty and make excellent long ranged support troops.

Sangheili

Difficulty: Medium

Description: Sangheili are a honor bound species expected to uphold the Covenant's religion and lead those under their command with diligence and honor. They are protected by a powerful shielding system that can soak up a limited amount of gunfire before needing to recharge.

Bchieftain.png
Jiralhanae
Difficulty: Medium

Description: Jiralhanae are a durable pack species capable of fighting through sustained wounds better than other species. They are generally expected to lead when no sangheili or high ranking covenant members are around.

Drone.png
Yanme'e
Difficulty: Medium

Description: Yanme'e are a hive species of frail flying insectoids that can use their wings to flank enemies and make themselves tougher targets. Due to their natural born protections against low pressure environments and their ability to easily fly over barricades and over heights, they make excellent engineers and medics when no huragok is available.

Huragok.png
Huragok
Difficulty: Hard

Description: Huragoks are synthetic and docile beings with a single minded goal of fixing things (or people, if they are a lifeworker) regardless of affiliation. While Huragok are not covenant aligned and will fix anything and anyone where possible, they tend to prioritize assisting the covenant to preserve their own life. They will never inflict harm except under extreme provocation and do not willingly leave the covenant.

Prophet.png
San'Shyuum
Difficulty: Hard

Description: The San'Shyuum are the leaders of the entire covenant, dedicated entirely to the glorious crusade against the heretics. They are role-play heavy species expected to take command over the ship and its crew. They rely on their bodyguards, the high ranking Honor Guard units, for protection.

Hunter.png
Mgalekgolo

Difficulty: Medium

Description: Mgalekgolo is not a species, but a colony of worms known as the lekgolo which sit inside heavy ship-alloy grade armor. They are walking tanks capable of soaking up a lot of damage before dying and are usually deployed in pairs with their other referred to as a Bond Brother, or mate. They have a powerful fuel rod cannon and a devastating shield that they can smash their enemies with, but are incredibly vulnerable to attacks from behind.
