Moving The Ship

Moving a ship is a simple process, requiring access to a helm console and nothing more. Once a helm console is accessed, thrusters can be fired to move the ship. This allows for slower movement across the overmap. Lower amounts of thrusters will eventually impact the ship's ability to accelerate to top speed.

For faster movement across the overmap, most vessels are equipped with slipspace drives. These are dangerous but powerful devices that allow for near instantaneous transport between two locations.

To utilise a slipspace drive, interact with it on any intent other than harm. (Harm intent overrides the drive's core safeties and provides a transportable, incredibly powerful explosive device that is capable of causing any ship it explodes in to succumb to slipspace ruptures and starts the process of ship superstructure failure.)

When interacted with in realspace, a slipspace drive will transport you to slipspace and start recharging. In slipspace, all ship sensors will be unable to give any useful readout.

After ~2 minutes of waiting. the slipspace drive will recharge and allow for further interaction. If interacted with in slipspace, a drive will allow the input of co-ordinates to jump to. Inputting the co-ordinates will cause the ship to jump back to realspace, which sets the drive recharging again. This recharge time is longer. (5 minutes).

Ships in slipspace with a functioning slipspace drive are capable of maintaining their position indefinitely, however, they will be unable to recieve any radio transmissions from outside nor are able to interact with the outside world. The slispacse process can be repeated as many times as needed and is often used to escape from a failing battle.
