Boarding

Boarding ships or transferring between overmap objects is usally done with the help of a ship's umbilical connector. With these, you can move people and cargo between ships without expending any resources, however, umbilical boarding requires adjacency to the object you want to board, with movement causing the umbilical to disconnect.

Due to hostile vessels (inconsiderately) choosing to remain highly mobile, other methods of boarding are provided by way of boarding pod. Boarding pods allow for landing on or inside a hostile vessel, however, previous damage or unlucky landing location can lead to landing within locations that require tools to escape from. For this reason, bringing EVA gear on boarding operations, alongside tools to breach the hull is recommended.

To launch a boarding pod, first a boarding beacon has to land on the hostile vessel. Boarding beacons are fired by launcher consoles, which should be nearby the boarding pods. Once a boarding beacon lands, it remains until a short period of time passes, then the beacon self-deletes. Boarding beacons do respect the targeting console's target and as such, a boarding pod can be targeted at a specific location of a ship, although it is unreliable.
