People die when shot enough times. This article explains how to help them not die.

What makes a person die?

A person only dies when their brain dies. If it says NECROTIC in the body scanner, they're gone.

Blood oxygenation below 85% will slowly damage the brain. Oxygenation decreases due to heart and lung damage AND bloodloss. The lower oxygenation is, the faster the brain dies.

Toxins will also chip away at subject's internal organs, including the brain, but they'll destroy the liver first.

Missing a head also means the heart can't physically pump blood into the brain, so the head will need to be reattached as soon as possible, but even then it's unlikely subject can be saved.

Oh god, he's dying

Buying time

Slow that down by doing the following:

  1. Dexalin Plus reduces effect bloodloss, oxygen deprivation and heart damage have on oxygenation. Available in vendors.
  2. CPR, Triadrenaline and Defibrilators restart the heart, allowing it to pump blood. Triadrenaline is available in vendors. CPR is performed by repeatedly clicking on the subject with help intent and will also make them breathe. Keep going even after the ribs break.
  3. Stasis bags slow down metabolism and rate of necrosis significantly. Available in vendors.
  4. Biofoam quickly repairs organ damage, internal and external bleeding and broken bones. Available in most First Aid Kits. Injecting two 10u syringes in quick succession will cause serious damage instead.
  5. Bicadrine helps stop bleedings, in high doses will even stop internal ones. Available at vendors and in Infantry First Aid Kits.
  6. Peridaxon will slowly repair internal organs. Filed Trauma Kits have Tissue Necrosis Inhibitor injectors that contain 5u of it. Otherwise, made through chemistry.
  7. Inaprovaline prevents cardiac arrests and suffocation. Available in vendors.
  8. Dylovene helps with toxic damage. Mixes with Inaprovaline to create Tricordrazine which slowly heals brute and burn damage but is pretty useless for stabilizing patients. Available in Toxin First Aid Kits.

Remember that chemicals only work when the heart is beating. If either the heart or the lungs are necrotic, they must be replaced.

Bloodloss and damage

Taking damage causes pain, hurts internal organs and causes bloodloss either through bleeding or vaporization of blood.

Biofoam, Bicadrine and Tricordrazine fix bleeding caused by brute damage and treat brute damage.

Kelotane, Dermaline and Tricordrazine treat burn damage.

Iron, IV Drips with blood and Food will restore blood levels. Click on an IV drip with a blood bag in hand, then drag the IV drip over onto the subject to hook them up to it. Multiple IV drips can be attached to one subject. O- is the universal donor bloodtype.

Hyronalin treats radiation poisoning, Dylovene for toxin damage radiation poisoning causes.

Organ damage

More often than not, subject's internal organs will suffer damage. If an organ goes NECROTIC, it is effectively dead and needs to be replaced.

Excessive pain, oxygen deprivation, bloodloss or brain damage will cause the heart to stop.

If the heart is damaged or isn't beating, blood oxygenation will be severely reduced.

Peridaxon and Surgery are effective ways of treating most organ damage. Autosurgeon will perform the latter automatically, but Inaprovaline must be administered before it can be safely used as it operates really quickly and surgery steps cause pain, leading to a cardiac arrest.

Dylovene can be used in a pinch to treat minor liver damage.

Alkysine is used to treat brain damage. It will only work if oxygenation is above 85%.

Bioprinter will print missing limbs and organs. They will then need to be attached or replaced through Surgery.

Surgery

If you've made it here, you've likely exhausted every other option and or the subject is missing limbs or has necrotic organs.

Put the subject on an operating table, a bed, a table or just do it on the floor.

An autodoc can also perform all organ repair surgeries automatically, but don't forget to take Inaprovaline first.

Select the bodypart, switch to help intent, give the subject oxycodone or sedate them and put on latex gloves.

  • Circular Saw -> Replacement Limb -> Hemostat to replace or reattach limbs

Retracting skin: Scalpel -> Hemostat -> Retractor

  • Bone Gel -> Bone Setter -> Bone Gel to repair bones
  • Fix'O'Vein to repair cut tendons and stop internal bleeding
  • Burn Pack to disinfect

Cutting through Skull / Ribcage: Circular Saw

From here you can access internal organs (eyes are internal organs too). This is only necessary for chest and head.

  • Advanced Trauma Kit to repair internal organs
  • Scalpel -> Hemostat to detach organs (last step Multitool for robotic organs)
  • Organ -> Fix'O'Vein to attach organs (last step Screwdriver for robotic organs)

Cauterise the bodypart after you're done with the surgery.

Facial and vocal cord surgery: target mouth, then Scalpel -> Hemostat -> Retractor -> Cautery

If you've managed to infect the subject, administer Spaceacillin.

Robotic limbs and organs

Accessing hatch: Screwdriver -> Crowbar

  • Welding tool to repair brute damage
  • Cable coil to repair burn damage
  • Nanopaste to repair internal organs

Crowbar to close hatch.
