Using the targeting console allows for the targeting of an area of the ship, at the downside of a much higher chance of the fired projectiles missing and doing no damage.</ins>

New page

Ship vs ship combat is an important step of contact with any other vessel. The system may seem complex, however, interacting with it is simple.

Pre-preparing for ship v ship combat is often done due to the [[main ship weapons]] requiring time and effort to fire (See link for more details). Non-main ship weapons merely require accessing the related console (usually located on the bridge of the ship) and clicking to fire.

Ship weapons are linked to a local firing console, which are then further linked to a global control consoles. Local command consoles are usually locatated near each weapon array, whilst global control consoles are located in a centralised location (usually the bridge and battle bridge). Each ship weapon reloads automatically, however, the reload times on each weapon varies.

Ship weapon consoles are fully immune to explosion damage, however, if the power in the area is disabled, the ship weapon consoles will cease to function. Ensuring a continued supply of power is vital to continued combat.

Special mention should be had for boarding pod beacon launchers. Whilst they function like normal ship weapons, they do no direct damage and instead place short-lived beacons to allow boarding pods to launch to and infiltrate hostile vessels.
